Anita Taylor Police Report

That between 7:30 PM on 10-28-66 and 1:50 AM on 10-29-66, the above was murdered in bedroom on east side of the above residence; by being beaten about the head and neck with an unknown object and possibly raped; these injuries causing death.

At the above time, reporting officers received a call of a beating and rape at 415 Ludlow Ave. Upon their arrival, they were met on the sidewalk by Morton Smith of 171 Lawnview, Eddie Bartley of 432 E. Liberty St., and the complainant's husband, Larry Taylor, who stated "My wife has been beaten and raped".

Reporting officers found the complainant laying on the bedroom floor on the west side of the bed, with her feet to the north and her head to the south, in a semi-conscious condition and moaning softly. She was nude from the shoulders down; her blouse and brassier were pulled up around her neck. Her shorts and panties were on the floor beside her.

At this time, reporting officers went to the baby's bedroom, which is located in the northwest corner of the house. The baby, Aaron Lee Taylor, 18 mos., way laying in his crib. He had also been beaten.

The back door of the house was standing open. There was no sign of forced entry.

Mr. Taylor stated he left his residence to go to work at the R & M at 4:00 PM on 10-28-66. At 1:36 AM on 10-29-66 he clocked out and rode home with Morton Smith, who let him out in front of his residence. He then walked up on the front porch and knocked on the door, as his wife keeps the front door locked. He stated he heard the TV on in the living room and then thought he heard a moaning sound from the bedroom. He forced this door open, which leads directly into the bedroom, and found his wife on the floor of the bedroom. He then ran to Bill's Cafe, 1640 Sheridan Ave., where his friends had stopped to have a drink. He asked them for help and they returned to the scene with him.

The Fire Div. Emergency Squad, consisting of Lt. Olds and Fireman Shook, arrived at the scene and transported the complainant and the baby to Community Hospital, where the complainant was pronounced D.0.A by Dr. Fifer.

Coroner Anderson was called to Community Hospital where he took charge of the body.

This clothing, from the complainaint and the baby, was placed in paper sacks and turned over to Off. Powell. Sgt. Titer and Off. Powell were called to the scene for photos and prints.
